Ok, 2014. Let's do this.

OK 2014, this is our last chance to get it together.

There are some things I really need to accomplish this month...

A mega stack of thank you cards
Finish a 2013 Christmas gift...
Figure out 2014 Christmas gifts
Eliminate the piles of boxes in my living room
Create an image for the business holiday sale
Craft a New Year card for the business
Craft a New Year letter for family
Dispose of my ill-fated orchid
Donate at least 1 item every day
Dispose of at least 1 item every day
Study 1 hour a day for my work licensure

Phew! I hate to say watch me crash and burn... But probably watch me crash and burn.

November was so stressful.  I wrote many blog posts from my phone all of which say "post failed". Apparently adding a picture from my phone is like entering a death spiral.  Add in a nexus 5 that refuses to connect to a PC and I've got more first world problems than I can shake a stick at. I promise whenever there is a time slightly more convenient than 2:38 am I will work on rectifying those posts.

Adventures in plant ownership

For whatever reason, I felt like I leveled up enough in life to the point where owning a  plant sounded like a good idea.  I should have left it at "sounded" because this last trip to Ikea led me to become a plant owner.

And I didn't just buy any plant.  I bought a tiny, cute, finicky, S.O.B. of an orchid.

Would you like to hear about the last time I was a plant owner?  My dad gave me a cactus that he budded(?) off from a cactus that was growing wildly out of control.  He claimed that I couldn't kill it even if I tried.  Well folks, my sister likes to remind that I am "less nurturing than a desert".  I also suppose this isn't a good time to bring up the last tiny, cute, plant entrapment from my premature adult life.  I was terribly mistaken and that cactus wasn't of the " brown-variety".  Ugh...

48 hours and I'm starting to lose hope.

Somebody send the plant whisperer.

New Title?

It's midnight and I'm hot gluing felt onto a hoodie for my son's Halloween costume.  This blog should really be called the Half-@ssed Mom...

P.S. note that the hoodie is mounted on a paper towel holder and being supported with a mixing bowl and a Christmas dish towel.  Creative problem solving? Or I just might be an engineer.

Sweet relief

While having a rough go at work and life I was daydreaming about building a cookie fortress to surround myself and my TV. That's when I stumbled upon a pile of fruit snacks in a pocket of my work bag.

Yes! Sweet mother of stress eating!  I have been DELIVERED! Could my luck have turned any better?

And in other news, I have the desires of a preschooler.  Dreaming of cookie fortresses? Clearly I've got a lot of growing up yet to do.

Ehhh... And I guess there's the whole fact that I still buy fruit snacks too.

Ask and ye shall receive

Apparently it's easier to find time to blog than I thought.  All you need is one unruly baby that refuses to sleep and refuses to let you sleep.

Cue the walking, rocking, bottles, diapers, crying it out, is it teething? More walking, more rocking and the inevitable car ride.

Between my last hour and 45 minute stint to my current hour and counting I am beyond exhausted and hungry.  Thankfully there is a 24 hour drive thru by my house.  I generally eat healthy, but there are no words to describe my level of sadness when I learned I could not get the cheeseburger I planned on drowning my sorrows in.  Instead, I had to settle for oatmeal.  F'in oatmeal.  Who stress eats oatmeal?!?  Oh drive thru, I am disappointed in you.
